The Butcher Shoppe is excited to be a vendor this coming Saturday, August 27, at Pop a Cork for the Capitol. It’s a benefit for The Capitol Theater in downtown Chambersburg, and we’ll be set up serving sandwiches, cookies and drinks from the Big Oak Cafe. Join us and support a great community cause.
The Big Oak Cafe has begun serving milkshakes. They are made fresh and are super delicious. Strawberry is made with real strawberries. Stop in and give one a try. What a refreshing dessert for a hot summer day!
Beginning June 18, The Butcher Shoppe will introduce Market Days! It’s sort of our version of a Farmers’ Market–local vendors, activities for kids, lunch on the grill, and tastes of our own recipes. Every third Saturday, weather permitting, our parking lot will be full of festivities from 10-4. What a great way to add some flare to your Saturday shopping or simply a fun thing to do with the family on a summer day.
Please join us…The first Market Day will include Gardens by Grace, Potomac Bead Company, Mayor Lagiovane tying balloon animals (12-2), grilled sausage and features from our Produce Market and Bakery Shoppe! Mark your calendars for June 18.
The Butcher Shoppe is featured in the May 9, 2011 edition of Supermarket News, a grocery industry trade magazine. The article can be found online here. We’re proud to be recognized on a national level, and are grateful our story has been exposed to so many people.
Thanks to all of you who participated in our staff chili cook-off last weekend. All 5 entries were delicious and it was a good battle. In the end Sweet & Spicy outpaced the rest, but not after a strong showing from each chili. Ground Sirloin & Chicken Sausage Chili made a strong comeback on Saturday to finish second, and the other 3 did quite well too. We had so much fun interacting with our customers over these recipes, that we’re sure to try the “cook-off” idea again. Keep checking for recipes from each of the entries, so you can try your hand at them at home.
