Ingredients
3-4 lbs boneless rolled pork butt (shoulder) roast
1 package onion soup mix
2 1/2 Tbs brown sugar
2 1/2 Tbs worcestershire sauce
2 1/2 cups applesauce
1 1/2 cups water
3 tsp vegetable oil
1 1/2 tsp paprika
Directions
Prep: 5 mins
Cook: 4 1/2 hrs
Serves: 6-8
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large skillet or pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Sprinkle raw roast with paprika. Brown roast in hot oil on each side.
Mix applesauce, brown sugar, worcestershire, water, and onion soup mix in a bowl and then place in a high-walled roasting dish.
Lower browned roast into roasting dish and turn over to coat with sauce. Cover the dish with a lid or foil. Bake at 350 for 4 hours.
Let rest in sauce off of heat for about 15 minutes. At this time, trim off any excess fat. Serve in a shallow dish surrounded by sauce. Cut and remove string tying roast together. The roast will fall apart into sauce in serving size pieces.
